ubuntu 6.10 and above all have orca integrated in the o/s. did they release 7.10 yet? looks like I'll be doing some research...

The Ubuntu version convention is year.month, so 7.10 would be October of 2007. I'd say no.

Thaks. I also have some other questions. Ca anyone put some keystrokes for using orca and the basic keystrokes for linux. Are any of the games accessible with orca?
I like what I've messed with so far.
Also, how do I get it to play my mp3 files? I like having 2 operating systems on my computer so I can switch from one to theother.
If anyone wants to add me to msn to talk about this by the way it's in my profile.
Thanks aain.

the games ar not very accessible that i've seen but then agin i'veenvermessed around with them. To play mp3 files, you will need vlc, bu you'll need to uncommen your sources.list file in /etc/apt. then run at-get instal vlc.

I have a question about Ubuntu, when loading it, how do you know what OS your clicking on if you can' use JAWS or Window eyes or any other typeof screenreader? My question is, do you memorize where every thing is?

You can have both running at the same time, but its risky, you must have installed windows xp first before installing ubuntu. The reason I say its risky, is if your master boot record gets corrupted, you gotta fix it within windows, there're programs out there to allow you to install different operating systems and shield them from your main one, what I'm unsure of is how jaws friendly those programs ar. And when you do get ubuntu installed, another thing I'm unsure of is which os will be set to boot as default, ubuntu or windows.

1. use partition magic to resize/create partitions. Windows XP is first, followed by whatever structure you want for Linux, followed by linux swap.

2. Install linux to its partition or partitions. Use the swap partition you created earlier.

3. Edit the configuration for your boot loader (such as grub) to start Windows XP by chaining to it. An example is in the default configuration file.

4. Set whichever OS you want started by default.

5. Reboot and pray.

Hi.
Here's another question I have. How would I reset my preferences back to the defaults? I'm used to the menus being from left to right, like places, left of that is applications, ect. The menus are going up and down like the windows start menu.
Also, I can't find my contacts list in gaim instant messenger.
Does anyone know how to reset that?
Other than that, I like ubuntu pritty well.
It would be cool if some of the games were accessible though.
Thanks
Bryan

when you dual boot with ubuntu ubuntu will be the default to boot. if you want to start windows you will have to wait till the boot menu comes up, press down arrow and then hit enter. Ubuntu can be installed first but most likely that won't be our situation. In which case you'd have to edit your menu.list or boot.list file int eh grub directory to find your xp partition. But yes as spike mentioned, having windows installed is the easiest way to get stuff done.

As for gaim, if running edgy which I don't think you are, it might be coming up and disappearing quickly and then crashing. If you haven't added any accounts yet you can do so by opening the gaim window and pressing control and A. If you have but can't access the main window and it is not showing up in the bottom pannel, then type:

mv ~/.gaim ~/.gaim.bak

then restart gaim

Hi. Thanks for that tip about gaim. I got it working.
Do you know of any other synthesizers that I can download that will work with orca? Also, How should I set my audio device to record sound in linux? I can't get it to record even when I have my mic hooked up to it.
Thanks.
